Lucky Starr & 007

February 4, 2010

Thank my Lucky Starrs.
‘Being John Malkovich’ is over ten years old now but the movie still ‘does my head in’, pardon the pun.
As someone who impersonates a number of international stars, the idea of glimpsing a famous person’s subconscious can seem strangely tempting.
For a long time I’ve provided voice overs for radio stations, advertisers and corporate training videos as various celebrities including the legendary actor Sir Sean Connery.
At a live performance in about 2007, I told a couple of jokes as the great James Bond himself.
To my delight, the original ‘I’ve Been Everywhere’ man, Lucky Starr was also performing and backstage was most complimentary about my Sean Connery voice; and he’s heard a lot of ‘Yesh Mish Moneypennys’!
He suggested I should really create a bigger show around that character alone and encouraged me to pursue it.
Now, I’m enjoying more requests than ever to host, MC, act as guest speaker or provide a complete show including my own Miss Moneypenny with events wanting this perennially favourite 007 theme I thank my Lucky Starr advice that he so generously gave.
Who knows, maybe there’s a ‘Being Sean Connery’ plot hatching right now…
